Learn to manage energy in three ways, and say goodbye to the powerlessness

Recently, a netizen left me a message saying that she has an ambition that is not willing to the status quo, but she is suffering from the lack of time and energy to realize this ambition.

When she came home from work, she felt physically and mentally exhausted and didn't want to do anything. She really had no energy to read or study.

To tell the truth, I have been distressed by this situation. I often want to read some books in the evening to improve myself after working all day. But when he calmed down, he found that he was physically and mentally exhausted and had no strength to continue learning.

Gradually, I realized that it is not enough to have a desperate heart on the road, but also to know how to use my energy reasonably.

Later, I learned some knowledge about how to manage my energy, how to save my energy and how to use my energy effectively. Slowly, my energy condition and the whole person's condition are much better than before.

Next, we will share with you three methods of energy management that we have personally practiced and found useful:

  1. Full devotion and timely rest

I have a friend, little G, who always looks energetic. He walked with his head straight and spoke with great pride. It is very efficient to do things. The knife starts and ends very simply.

Once, when I asked him why he kept his energy high, he said to me: "Workhard, playhard.". In the book Energy Management, the author explains the same idea in another way:

"The commonality of the richest, happiest and most productive life is to be able to deal with the challenges in front of you with all your heart, and to relax intermittently, leaving room for energy regeneration."

If we use two words to sum up the meaning of this sentence, it means that we should be fully engaged and have a timely rest.

Why do you want to be fully involved? Because only with full devotion can we fully improve our work efficiency. And only by fully improving the work efficiency can we complete the task as soon as possible, thus leaving more time for relaxation and recovery.

Why take a break in time? Many people regard rest at work as a lazy or shameful behavior. But in fact, only by taking a break in time can we ensure effective output.

Philostratus, the compiler of the training manual for ancient Greek athletes, once proposed that performance can be improved to the maximum extent by alternating exercise and rest.

That is to say, if you want to maintain your energetic state, you should not regard your work as a long marathon, but as a series of sprints. The characteristic of sprint is to be fully involved in the race and take a rest in time after the race.

  1. Don't hold on to the situation

My office often has students coming in and out, so the office environment is usually noisy.

If you want to work in a noisy environment, you usually need to spend more energy to focus on your work.

Sometimes, in order to improve my work efficiency, I will wear earphones to shield the noise. But when I wear earphones all the time, sometimes I can't help listening to what the other person is saying and worry about missing some important things. This kind of anxiety will also consume a person's energy too much.

Later, I found out that when the environment is noisy, it will quickly consume a person's energy to do some brain-burning work.

After continuous reflection and improvement, I put forward a principle of "mind changes with the situation" for myself. Well, you are right. It says "mind turns with the state" instead of "state turns with the state".

What is "heart turns with the situation"? It means that you should adjust your work state appropriately according to the changes in the surrounding environment.

When the surrounding environment is quiet, you should make full use of this time to work and study well. When the surrounding environment is too noisy to continue working, you should make corresponding adjustments according to the surrounding environment, take advantage of this opportunity to relax, and do not force yourself to continue working.

Now, I rarely force myself to continue working in a noisy environment, because I know that this will only consume valuable energy even more. If your colleagues are discussing work topics, you might as well join them and have a good chat. It's also a kind of spiritual relaxation.

As is said, the heart does not move, but moves at random.

  1. Develop habits and save energy

Recently, my article has not been updated frequently. At this point, I feel a little anxious.

Of course, I can find many reasons for myself. For example, from this semester on, I'm going to study for a doctor's degree, and I need to spend a lot of time reading professional books. In addition, I feel a little overdrawn recently and want to have a good rest.

However, when I carefully reflected on this problem, I found that the crux of the problem was that I gave up some good habits I had adhered to before. Before, after dinner every night, I sat at the computer desk and wrote for a while. Recently, I always play with my mobile phone in bed after dinner.

After losing the habit of writing at a fixed time, I often think about the unfinished writing task at some point in the day, and I will feel very anxious. But when I really took the time to write, I found that my energy was almost exhausted.

In the book "Energy Management", there is a thought-provoking saying: "If you need to think about something before you do it every time, you may not persist in doing it for a long time."

In order to encourage myself to make continuous progress, I have followed a lot of people through the Internet. Later, I found that there is one thing in common among these cattle people, that is, they have many good habits of persistence. For example, adhere to the habit of getting up early, reading and writing in a fixed period of time, adhere to the habit of exercise, and so on.

We often say, "Excellence is a habit".

In fact, forming some good habits can not only make a person better, but also help a person to save energy better.

Think about it. If there is no habit of doing things, this person needs to spend a lot of time thinking about "what should I do in the next period of time" and other issues every day. This kind of thinking usually consumes a lot of brain power and energy.

For example, if you are a person who loves learning, but you have not formed the habit of reading. So you will spend a lot of brain cells thinking about the question of "how long should I go to read" every day. This kind of thinking is actually a loss of energy.

If we can form the habit of getting up early every day to read, then each time before reading, we will lose a lot of struggle and thinking process, so that we can spend the precious energy saved on reading itself.

So, if you want to reduce the time spent on thinking and better use your most precious energy on the blade, then please try to form some good habits!
